Mrs. Obama, lovingly referred to as Granny Sarah by the former president, supported her grandson throughout his 2008 presidential campaign. People accused him of being Muslim and not being born in the United States.
After he was elected as the first black president of the United States, her house became a popular tourist destination. Barack ended his tribute by stating: “We will miss her dearly, but celebrate with gratitude her long and remarkable life.” Fans immediately went to the comments section to express their admiration for Barack, with one supporter writing: “May her memory be a constant gift to all!!”
Sarah died in a hospital while undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness. President Obama’s half-sister, Auma Obama, also took to Twitter to pay respect to their grandmother.
