There are no locally built search engines in North Korea because the government forbids its citizens from using the internet. Every social networking platform is likewise banned. Due to its remoteness from the rest of the world, North Korea, like China, has banned Google.
It turns out that the country doesn’t have many websites available. Most of these websites have always been reachable from outside North Korea. Still, a comprehensive list was made public, seemingly for the first time.
Unverified rumors suggest senior North Korean government personnel have access to Google. However, it was also claimed in 2018 that government representatives ceased using Google for political reasons and switched to the Chinese search engine Baidu.s.
